Eliot D. Thompson
Download my v-card: Eliot D. Thompson
Eliot Thompson first came to Portland to study at Reed College and then spent two years after graduation working at the Parry Center for Children. If those two years working with high acuity mentally ill children taught him anything, it was how to deal with opposing counsel.
Upon graduating from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2007, he began his legal career in Washington, D.C. working for an international law firm in the areas of antitrust, insurance litigation and white collar criminal defense. After two years of working for large corporate clients, he made a move to get himself back to his first love: the courtroom. He found work as a public defender in Richmond, Virginia where he defended thousands of criminal cases and learned how to become a trial attorney under the most difficult circumstances with the most vulnerable clients.
In 2013, after receiving an opportunity to return home to the Rocky Mountains, he started work as a prosecutor in the ski town of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. While there he prosecuted everything from traffic cases to the serial sexual assault of children and homicide. Eliot also might have found a little time to ski the resorts and back country areas of Northwestern Colorado. Having worked on both sides of the aisle as a defense attorney and a prosecutor, he’s better able to see both sides of the argument and anticipate potential problems in a given case.
Eliot enjoys practicing law because it’s an opportunity to help people fix problems, whatever the problems are.
